MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Our Story – Celebrating 10 Years
I can hardly believe it has been 10 years since Until We Meet Again went from merely a vision to reality. A reality, which turned out to be so much more than we dreamt it would ever be!
I remember when we found our building in North Vancouver and thinking, "Oh my goodness this space is huge, we will never use all of it". I couldn't image then, that in a few short years we would need to expand into the unit next door. It goes without saying, opening a second center in Victoria was completely off my radar 10 years ago, yet here we are with an expanded North Vancouver center and our new center in Victoria.
Over the last 2 decades pet cremation services have gone through significant changes. Twenty years ago there was a transition from primarily communal cremations to pet crematoriums offering individual cremations, also known as partitioned cremations. Ten years ago we saw a further transition from individual cremations to a cremation procedure during which only one animal's body is present in the cremation chamber, a truly private cremation. Like Kevin and I, families wanted more for their pets. Until We Meet Again not only provides ethical cremation but also provides a place for families to celebrate their pet's lives in creative and meaningful ways.
It has been exciting to be a part of our profession during this time of transition. Kevin sat on the Standards and Ethics Committee of the Pet Loss Professionals Alliance (PLPA) and the Accreditation Committee of the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories (IAOPCC). It has been an honour to work with these organizations in the establishment of sound business practices and standards among our ranks and on promoting the value of quality pet loss care to veterinarians and the public.
What a journey it has been! There have been so many highlights such as receiving our accreditation plaque and opening Until We Meet Again in Victoria but by far, the biggest blessing over the past 10 years has been the people! Pet parents have shared their lives with us and taught us about other cultures and faiths; continually reaffirming for us the steadfast power of the human animal bond.
Our veterinary family; wow, what a passionate group they are! We are continually touched by their dedication and the care they provide their patients and pet parents. We have learned a tremendous amount from all of them.
We are for the shared passion of our peers, from all over North America; peers we have meet through the IAOPCC and the PLPA who also contribute to and value new and elevated standards in our profession.
I cannot say enough about our phenomenal team at Until We Meet Again. We are indebted to each one for their hard work and care. The times they have gone above and beyond are too many to count. They have and continue to serve families with compassion and diligence. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated group working with us.
Our sons were 5, 7 and 9 years old when we started Until We Meet Again. They have been our constant companions and helpers along the way. We have tried very hard to have a work-life balance but as anyone with their own business knows, this can be easier said then done. We are so thankful for their patience, understanding and hard work.
It has been a privilege providing our service and support to pet families and veterinary clinics for the past 10 years and we look forward to continuing our care and dedicated services in many years to come!
We are so grateful to all that have shared this journey with us!
Sincerely,
Kevin and Joanna Woronchak
